Clip description
Those on the top deck object to what is happening below and overreact. Noam Chomsky notes that when the populace calls for more freedoms or more rights, in situations where power is concentrated, the reaction ultimately results in more repression.
Curator’s notes
This sequence is typical of how the film makes its point. The passengers on board Vince’s contraption act according to whether they have power or not. This serves as a metaphor for something that has happened or keeps happening in history – in this case, US aggression against a long line of countries. Commentary from thinkers like Chomsky adds force to Petty’s arguments.
