Fear or Favour (1993)

Synopsis

Journalist Iain Gillespie investigates his own profession, interviewing other journalists, print and television executives and the victims of tabloid journalism. He asks what are the rights and obligations of journalists. To whom are they accountable? How dominant is the profit motive? Is it the voyeurism of media consumers who create the demand for more revealing and salacious stories?

Curator’s notes

The documentary is an interesting look at journalism and issues relating to the profession from an insider’s point of view. Some of the journalists squirm when it’s their turn to be questioned.
