Preschooler Emily is hearing impaired. We see Emily and her family visiting her teacher Rob Last, at his home for afternoon tea. Rob, who has been teaching Emily to use sign language, says that teaching these children is a long-term commitment, and that although he was taught to keep an emotional distance from his students, he thinks it is important to become involved.
