Curator’s notes
Cenotaph effectively and movingly looks at the true meaning of mateship – a concept that has almost spiritual significance to Australians. The film also reflects on the futility of war, but praises those who served and died for their country. Robert Reynolds has also produced Faces of War: the Battle Comes Home (1995), Empire (1995), The Golden Pig (1996) and War of Distance (1994).
