Clip description

The boys work on their bush toys in the community workshop, painting and adding finishing touches.

Curator’s notes

Making bush toys enables these boys to develop new skills as they engage in this creative process. It also provides them with an opportunity to sell their pieces to tourists through the local arts centre.

This clip, as with the entire film, represents Aboriginal boys and men in a respectful, creative, gentle and manly way. It offers a fresh perspective to previous overwhelmingly negative portrayals of Aboriginal men in non-Indigenous produced film and television.
