Clip description

In this clip the Titjikala boys talk about making bush toys and demonstrate the process and method used.

Curator’s notes

To allay the boredom sometimes experienced by teenage boys in remote communities, these boys focus their attention on producing bush toys for the tourist market with an eye to exhibiting works in galleries in the future.

The narrator explains how this generation of boys took their people’s cultural tradition of toy making to a whole new level, using materials and technology not available to previous generations and making bush toys not seen before in the community.
