Curator’s notes
Laith Stevens is training the team to disable bombs and dispose of them properly but he also has to educate (with the help of an interpreter) the local communities and the children. He takes his job very seriously but is quite droll and humorous at times. Stevens and the airline pilot whose voice-over is heard are both commenting on the unbelievable number of bombs dropped on Laos during the years of the Vietnam War. The sobering map of Laos shown at the end of the clip depicts in red the areas bombed. There isn’t much land left that wasn’t touched.
