Synopsis
This documentary is a personal vision of the filmmaker, David Noakes, as he examines the cultural development of Western Australia. He interviews writers Tim Winton and Fay Zwicky, and film producer John Izzard.
Noakes explores the founding of Perth and its development as a city and the impact of this on the aborigines. Intercut with this are Noakes’ reflections of his own life as a child and his relationship with his parents – as we travel with him to visit his dying father.

Filmmaker David Noakes gives a real insight into grief and remembrance. The documentary is enhanced by the filmmaker’s willingness to be open about his feelings. And it explores the idea that we see our world through our own cultural experiences.
