Clip description

Bernie explains her struggles over the years to reach a competitive level of horseracing. She admits she couldn’t do it by herself, leading her to join forces with trainer Paul Sutherland. Bernie turns a corner with a thrilling win in the Japan Trophy Stakes at Randwick, riding a horse ironically named The Man.

Curator’s notes

Bernie becomes more realistic about what’s in store for her and it seems to have done the trick as she wins against one of the best jockeys in the business. She finally reaches her goal and she’s ecstatic. However, she realises that it’s going to continue to be difficult for her.
