Clip description
Members of the expedition party and others stand around the site of a large termite mound. Title cards then introduce the next sections which show a shark being caught, crocodiles being hunted, and cockatoos in flight. A pan across the Northern Territory’s Daly River ends this segment.
Curator’s notes
This clip captures just part of the expedition’s engagement with Australian wildlife. Other parts of the film feature a number of animals, including wild buffalo and large birds, which the party also hunt and kill. The footage in this clip, along the Daly River towards the adjoining Katherine River, shows both the vastness of the landscape and the wildlife within it.
