Clip description

This is an Australia Post television commercial (TVC) advertising the use of the correct postcode in addressing letters.

Curator’s notes

In the period 1988 to 1996 new communication technologies reduced domestic household mail from 16 percent of all letters posted via Australia Post to 5.5 percent. This 1988 commercial targeted members of the community who at that time were not yet au fait with the new technologies – the elderly and the very young. At the same time it effectively imparted the ‘correct postcode’ message to a much broader audience. Produced for Australia Post by THEM and Ron Windon Film Productions, it was on-lined on 1 February 1988 at Pro-Image ECV (now part of the Omnilab Media Group).
