New on ASO this week is television curator Kate Matthews’s essay on reality and TV crime shows.
Surveying the scene, her inquiries go back to 1965, when Homicide’s version of events included a voice-over narration, then to 1983 when Scales of Justice laid seriously real claims against the police force, and on to the here and now with the based-on-a-true-story crime-soap opera that is Underbelly – Series 1 (2008).
