Tom Zubrycki wins Stanley Hawes award

Tom Zubrycki is the 2010 recipient of the prestigious Stanley Hawes Award at the Australian International Documentary Conference. An independent filmmaker for nearly 40 years, the award recognises his outstanding contribution to Australian documentary which has included mentoring many up-and-coming filmmakers.

The Stanley Hawes Award was established by Film Australia and first presented in 1999. It is named after esteemed documentary filmmaker Stanley Hawes, the first Producer-in-Chief of the Australian National Film Board. The award is now presented by the annual Australian International Documentary Conference.

Previous recipients of the $5,000 prize include Bob Connolly (in 2009), Robin Hughes (in 2004) and Pat Fiske (in 2001). Read more about the award here.
