The Marvellous Corricks

The Marvellous Corricks profiles a rare collection of films from the dawn of cinema. The collection, from one of Australia’s first travelling film shows, was unique for its range of both international and local productions.

The Marvellous Corricks (also known as the Corrick Family Entertainers, pictured left) toured Australia and the world with a show balancing live music, vaudeville-style comedy and film programs. Films included short melodramas, coloured fantasies with special effects and travelogues shot in the towns they were visiting.

Recently restored by the NFSA, the films are getting a new lease of life in summer 2011. Just as the Marvellous Corricks used films in their performances, physical troupe Legs on the Wall have incorporated some of these films into their new show. My Bicycle Loves You is performed at the Sydney Festival in January and Perth Festival in February 2011.
