The show’s opening features the major prize, a Holden Apollo car, as centrepiece of a veritable feast of ‘exciting prizes just waiting to be won’. A disembodied voice-over (John Deeks) introduces host John Burgess, who introduces co-host Adriana Xenides and contestant Kelly.
Curator’s notes
This opening sequence establishes the easy rapport between career host and radio personality John Burgess and longest serving co-host on Australian television, the iconic Adriana Xenides. The first contestant, Kelly, is introduced with a description and brief discussion of her interests, work life and aspirations. This helps the audience at home to identify and empathise with an everyday Australian as she competes for an enticing range of prizes.
