Clip description

In the middle of the night, Hannah (Lynn Styles) comes though the portal from Ireland and arrives in Brett’s (Zachary Garred) bedroom in Perth at 7 am. She soon finds herself trying to explain to Brett’s mother Jackie (Kirsty Hillhouse) what she is doing there. Jackie is understanding when she is led to think that Hannah is an international entrant in the local surfing competition taking place on Cottesloe beach that morning.

This is a funny and quite dramatic arrival scene. It is also significant because it’s the first time Irish Hannah sees the beach and the place where Brett lives in Perth. It’s an interesting look through the eyes of an outsider. Putting the Irish girl in a surfing competition also establishes dramatic and comic potential for the rest of the episode.
