Remembering the beginning

This clip chosen to be G

Clip description

Over a glass of champagne Angela (Penne Hackforth-Jones) and Stephen (John Hargreaves) discuss the beginning of their relationship and it’s revealed that Stephen is married.

Curator’s notes

The set decoration in this and most scenes is fairly minimal. Doubtless a symptom of budget constraints, and in this location (a Surfers Paradise motel room) it unfortunately becomes a distraction. You get the feeling that the couple should be sipping their champagne out on the balcony, but have retreated back inside when the sound recordist heard the appallingly loud wind atmosphere, typical of high-rise beach-side apartments. Perched on the 1970s cane furniture just inside the door, the actors do well to deliver lines that establish the beginning – in order for the end to occur.
