Clip description

This clip begins with members of the Archibald family and their friends walking towards the camera across a wooden bridge. Among the family members present are John Ernest Archibald, his wife Ellen Kay Archibald and children John Muir and Helen (Maizie) Archibald. A pan across Avon Dam then cuts to a shot of a plaque which reads 'Sydney Water Supply. Avon Dam’. The group walk around the dam area. John pulls a face at the camera after the intertitle 'Naughty boy’. The clip ends with some of them playing a game of leapfrog on the winding roadside nearby.

Curator’s notes

In 1928, the Avon Dam was newly constructed. The family had visited Bowral before driving to the dam and it may have been a weekend family outing. The large family took two cars.
