Clip description
From inside an open cockpit, John Mack captures three Tiger Moths flying in a staggered formation close by. A single plane does some aerial acrobatics including a loop-the-loop, a falling leaf and flying upside down.
Curator’s notes
This clip is a strong illustration of some of the formations and acrobatic manoeuvres that the Tiger Moths were capable of. Mack also filmed a loop-the-loop from the point of view of the cockpit. However, due to the centripetal governance of the Ensign Kinecam camera he was using, the camera would stop filming at the horizon line and then click in once the plane had come out of the loop. Hence, it was impossible for him to capture the experience in this way. What we see in this clip is the next best thing.
