A point-of-view shot of a horse and cart travelling down Burwood Road, Hawthorn from the Glenferrie Hotel to the Tower Hotel captures scenes of daily life. At many points, curious and excited children wave their hats to the camera or follow the camera as it travels down the street.
Curator’s notes
Moving images were only ten years old when this was filmed, and seeing a camera on the street would not have been a common occurrence. The reactions of the young people who engage with the camera can be seen in a lot of actuality footage of the time.
