Student doctor Paul Armstrong (Simon Burke) arrives at the VD (venereal disease) clinic in Melbourne. Dr Linda Carmichael (Gerda Nicolson) introduces Paul to a hung-over Dr Eric Linden (Chris Haywood).
Curator’s notes
This early sequence establishes young student doctor Paul Armstrong as a nervous newcomer to the bustling clinic. He is startled by the winking overtures of a gay man in the waiting room and is gently mocked by Dr Carmichael. Paul’s hesitancy is comically contrasted with Dr Carmichael’s seen-it-all comments and Dr Linden’s laidback style.
