Clip description

On his new beat, the hard-bitten slum street of Harmony Row, Constable Dreadnought (as he is now known) falls victim to a heartless scam, when a criminal guns down a small boy, Leonard (Willie Kerr).

Curator’s notes

A very odd scene to make comedy from, but the scene shows how Wallace could take risks with his comedy. The little boy is played by Willie Kerr, who became the successful adult actor Bill Kerr (the boy from Wagga Wagga in Tony Hancock’s radio show). Kerr also played the grandfather and trainer of Mark Lee’s character in Gallipoli.
