Clip description
Amy (Alana De Roma) and Robert (Ben Mendelsohn) arrive back from the park to a street full of police. Tanya (Rachel Griffiths) wants him charged with abduction. Robert tells the police that the child can sing. Senior Sergeant Thurgood (Dennis Coard) orders officers Jamieson (Cristin Daniel) and Franklin (Grant Piro) to sing to Amy but she doesn’t respond – until they start to drag away Robert, her new friend.
Curator’s notes
David Parker has said he got the idea for a film in which a character could only communicate through song while watching a live performance of the musical Man of La Mancha in Melbourne. Amy is the first drama that Parker and his wife Nadia Tass have made – although it’s clear in this scene that it’s also an eccentric comedy.
