This clip shows black and white footage of Hephzibah Menuhin performing (privately) on the piano. Her letters, read in voice-over, talk of the disintegration of her marriage to Lindsay Nicholas. In interview, her brother Yehudi Menuhin recalls that period and the end of his own marriage to Lindsay’s sister, Nola.

Filmmaker Curtis Levy uses Hephzibah’s letters to friends, read by actress Kerry Armstrong, to poignantly illustrate the breakdown of her marriage and her attitude to life generally.
