Clip description

A young street boy, Tony (Darcy Bonser), takes Eugénie (Xaris Miller) and Warwick (Matthew Vennell) back to the deserted warehouse where he lives with other street kids. His friends – especially Nicole (Kestie Morassi) – are suspicious of the newcomers, worried they might be from the ‘Hide and Seek’ gang who are abducting children off the streets. When the gang infiltrate the warehouse and take one of the kids, Eugénie and Warwick are horrified.

This is a beautifully shot scene, with an evocative film noir influence. The use of flashbacks, music, slow motion, shadows and mood lighting gives a real sense of threat – creating a tension between Eugénie and Nicole as they face off against each other, and emphasising the powerlessness of the kids when the ‘Hide and Seek’ gang raids their space. This clip also features the street kids and their troubled lives – suspicious, fearful, hungry, lonely and hunted.
