Clip description

Cam is used to all the luxuries that affluence can bring and is finding it hard to change his ways. A friend arrives in his four-wheel drive to whisk him away to watch his weekend football match, leaving everyone else behind without water, electricity or transport.

The Shepherds are reeling under the shock of the sacrifices they are being asked to make and the massive changes to their lifestyle this will mean. Cam, according to his wife, is used to buying his way out of trouble when things get tough, which is harder to do with the eco challenge.

The program delivers a feelgood message. It’s possible to make a huge difference with only small changes to our lifestyle and by carefully choosing our technology to make sure it’s eco friendly. The program’s website is designed to offer additional advice and suggestions to assist other families to try and meet the eco challenge. Every week there’s an online competition with great prizes.

The structure of the show has been well-thought-out with the eco coach Tanya Ha arriving to assist just as the families might be wondering what on earth they can do next to lower their carbon imprint. It’s a way for the audience to pick up some handy hints as well about the practical and economically feasible things to assist us to meet the eco challenge before it’s too late.
