Clip description

This is an Australia Post television commercial (TVC) promoting the organisation’s new corporate image and its Postpak products.

Curator’s notes

This 15-second ‘We Deliver’ corporate image commercial promotes the use of Postpak products to small business. Advances in communication technology in the 1980s saw the speed of business transactions increase exponentially. This not only increased the performance expectations of the clients of big businesses, but trickled down to affect the expectations of the clients of small businesses – in the main, private individuals. Unlike their big business counterparts, small businesses found meeting these expectations financially very difficult. Indeed many didn’t survive this particular commercial era. This TVC shows workers in a small business named ‘Models by Mail’ posting a model car to two young boys. Australia Post’s Postpak is promoted as affordable (for small business), protective (the fragile item arrives in perfect condition) and reliable (the two small boys are overjoyed).
