Tabaluga has just discovered he is a dragon and is trying to work out what this means with the wise turtle Nessaja’s help. He is learning about his heroic and legendary father Tyrian, when they are attacked by the evil snowman Arktos and the long suffering James, his penguin butler in their flying machine.
Curator’s notes
A key scene in this story, Tabaluga and the audience are together gradually finding out who he is. Arktos and his hilarious butler provide the humour in this comic moment. James’s duplicitous and obsequious manner is captured beautifully in his fawning terms of address to his master. Here he addresses Arktos as ‘Your frostiness’.
