Clip description

In a tightly edited three-minute series opener the conceit, locations and participants are introduced accompanied by dramatic glimpses of the story which will unfold over three nights as we follow six ordinary Australians taking a dangerous refugee journey in reverse.

Curator’s notes

Using a mixture of news, interview and documentary footage, this introductory opening sequence deftly outlines the issues and backstories and sets up the participants along with the program’s onscreen refugee expert, Dr David Corlett. Corlett outlines the series premise: this social experiment is designed to give a taste of what it means to be a refugee.

Against a topical and dramatic backdrop, this teaser sets up a viewing experience now familiar to television audiences – that of experiencing reality through the eyes and reactions of ordinary Australians just like themselves.
