Vera (Margaret Ford) explains why she and her son George (Bill McCluskey) are living on the children’s land and how she has saved the trees from being cut down by loggers.

Vera helps Sophia and Nikos see their land with new eyes. For the first time, they see it as it really is rather than just a dream and the potential source of money. Vera draws their attention to the value of the uncleared bushland, a dramatic contrast to the noisy city which she hates.
