Clip description

Paul Landers (Steve Railsback) and Chris Walters (Olivia Hussey) seize an assault vehicle from their hunters and lead a prison breakout. Government jets are dispatched to Camp 47, with orders to wipe out the facility if order is not restored.

Brian Trenchard-Smith earned his reputation as one of Australia’s best action directors with sequences such as this. His vigorous choreography and inventive shooting style maximise the impact of the prison bust-out. In movie terminology, ‘all the money is up there on the screen’. The use of stock footage – material bought from a film library – adds to the scope and visual excitement as the air force ‘wipeout’ order is given.
