At a party, Gerry (Carol Porter) runs into Linda and Toby (Bert Cooper), two friends trying to stay off heroin. Lou (Gary Waddell) offers Linda a free hit, to prove her lack of resolve.
Curator’s notes
Lou’s aggression seems here to be part sexual, as he demonstrates his power (to supply drugs, and dispense them) to Linda, whose boyfriend backs off when confronted by Lou. The film’s sexual politics are constantly in the background, simmering behind the need to find drugs, but still occupying their energies. In a sense, Lou’s temptation of Linda is like a nasty seduction.
