Original classification rating: M. This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

Roly (Allan Penney) discovers his wife Mavis is overseas with Alec Moffatt. Eddie (Kelly Dingwall), nurse Ophelia Cox (Gosia Dobrowolska) and Dr Proctor (John Howard) attempt to calm Roly. Eddie and his brother, Wally (Philip Quast), are told by a Scottish Scrooge investment company representative (Nell Schofield) that Roly’s secret stash of money will not be available for four weeks. Wally hatches an idea to ‘send’ Roly overseas regardless.

Curator’s notes

The eccentric premise of the movie starts to take shape. With Roly’s ‘rainy day’ money unavailable, necessity becomes the mother of invention for Wally. With its gallery of oddball characters and high-spirited performances, the tone of Around the World in 80 Ways is reminiscent of British Ealing comedies of the 1950s.
