Diaries of Vaslav Nijinsky (2001)

Synopsis

Director Paul Cox tells the story of Russian dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky (1890–1950). English actor Derek Jacobi reads selections from Nijinsky’s diaries. The readings are illustrated with still photographs, dance sequences, re-enactments and shots of the landscape.

Curator’s notes

The film features some rare still photographs and moving image of the dancer. Paul Cox is one of Australia’s most prolific filmmakers. He has directed many films, including Innocence, My First Wife, Lonely Hearts and Man of Flowers.
